Here is a rare and beautiful French, Art Deco period, enamel bracelet, with an intricate marine theme and decorated with ships at sea, with a striking and balanced colour combination in enamel.
It was made by the French, Brittany company "Kelt" in the period between 1936 up to the early 1960s, when the company ceased trading.
All Kelt jewellery was hand made at their studio workshop in Brittany.
The bracelet is made of 8 small plaques, 5 rectangle and 4 circular, the rectangle has a sailing ship, left to right, with the word "AROAK" vertical to one end and to the other end "ATAO". To the 5 circular there is an older 15th Century Ship.
To the reverse is "KELT" in stamped to one plaque
This may actually be the work of the renowned jewellery designer Maison Rivière, as he was one of the founders of the Kelt company.
Kelt was a jewellery brand started in the mid to late 1930s as part of the revival of Breton art movement, being closely associated , through historical relationship, with the Celtic world, Celtic symbols, heraldic symbols and Breton folk art were combined to hand produce and only hand production, some fine and very different Celtic art forms.
Noteworthy names were involved in the conception of this workshop, Maison Riviere, Rene Yves Creston and Pierre Peron.
